Hopi Ear Candle E-mail

Hopi Ear Candle

What are they?

Hopi Ear Candle treatment (or Thermo Auricular Therapy) involves the placing of a hollow candle (traditionally made from organically grown flax and beeswax) into the ear. The candle burns very slowly and provides a non-invasive treatment of the ears for a variety of conditions.

How do they work?

The hollow candle acts like a chimney. When the candle is lit at the top, there is a mild suction which will draw out impurities from the ear into the lower section of the candle. The rising air inside the ear then sets up a vibration which gently massages the eardrum. This helps to regulate the pressures involved inside the ear. The effect is sometimes described as a "lighter feeling" in the head and ear.

The flow of air creates a circulation of concentrated vapour; this is soothing, calming and protects the irritated areas. The warmth of the flow stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems and increases immune defence and cleansing. It also stimulates energy and reflex points. The chimney effect inside the Ear Candle and the natural movement of the flame serve to gently massage the eardrum. This has an effect of regulating ear pressure.

Whilst the candle is burning a pleasant warmth can be felt around the ear, head and neck area. After treatment the clients usually describe a soothing, liberating, light sensation in the ear and head area.

What do Hopi Ear Candle treatments involve?

A Hopi ear candle treatment will usually last about 45 minutes to an 1 hour. Following a detailed medical history about any current ear or sinus problems and general state of health you will be asked to lie fully clothed on the treatment couch. One ear will be treated at a time as you lie either on your back or side. The Hopi ear candle is lit at the top and the tapered end is gently placed into the ear, the therapist's hands are then placed lightly over the ear to steady the candle. Each candle takes about 12-15 minutes to burn

You may hear a slight crackling or fizzing noise as the hopi ear candle burns and may also feel warmth around the ear. Treatment is then repeated for the second ear and completed with a soothing facial massage. Many people find the use of Hopi candles deeply relaxing and often fall asleep during treatment. Treatment is recommend every 4-6 weeks for preventative and revitalizing purposes. For chronic conditions such as sinusitis you may be asked to return in two weeks.

Shellac Nails E-mail

Shellac is a mix of traditional nail polish with an ultraviolet (UV) gel polish.

The secret with Shellac is that the varnish is secured under a UV lamp and dries within seconds. After that it stays and stays, so you only need to have your nails done every 14 days or so depending on how fast they grow (nails grow on average 0.1 mm each day, but quicker in summer and when you are pregnant).

Shellac doesn't damage the nails, on the contrary Shellac strengthens them from underneath.

It sets in a base coat (in other words: no harmful buffing involved, like most of the competitive brands choose to do) and applies like a nail polish. This is simply a colour that stays on your own natural nail perfectly until it grows out or you decide to remove it.

You can put any regular nail polish on top, but make sure you use a non-acetone remover when you want it off again - as long as there's no acetone it has no effect on the Shellac underneath. If you just want to strengthen your nails, try a clear Shellac colour. That way it is easier to apply sheer colours and your gorgeous nudes.

Have your Shellac removed in the salon, or buy acetone, soak a cotton pad with it and press on the nail for a couple of minutes. Gentle rubbing with a nail brush or cuticle stick can speed up the process.

Get your summer feet and hands perfect before the holidays. Suncreams often make nail polish colours messy and matt. And who wants to worry about nails when in Marrakesh searching for treasures or enjoying lazy life on a sunny beach anyways. Go Shellac your nails before the trip!

For easy maintenance you can touch up the cuticles of your nails by using a similarly coloured nail varnish as the nails grow. But remember that base coat should always come first!

Try Shellac for two months and your nails are long and strong and healthy. You don't want to put them in your mouth ever again.
